Synaptics came to the Consumer Electronics Show to show off Fuse, a new way to control a cell phone through the combination of touchscreens, force feedback, tilting, and 3-D graphics. It also showed off Scrybe, a new set of gestures that you can use to make things happen on your computer quickly and easily. Read more @VentureBeat!

Lenovo enters the ‘smartbook’ realm

Lenovo is unveiling its entry into the smartbook market today with the Lenovo Skylight (pictured), an always-connected mobile device in a sleek package. It runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor based on the ARM architecture. In other words, there’s no Wintel inside.

The Apple Tablet has been doing the round for quite sometime now (though without any official confirmation till date), but it has already filled the minds of people with great fantasies, or at least magazine publishers. Qt 4.6 brings Multi-touch and gestures and Maemo

The latest version of the cross platform application and interface framework, Qt, was announced this week. Alongside new platform support comes new graphical capabilities and support for multi-touch and gestures. With the introduction of the N900, there’s never been a better time for developers to make the switch the Qt, which simplifies the process of deploying an application to multiple platforms. This latest release isn’t just about mobile platforms though, as developers will also now be able to deploy apps to Windows 7 and Apple Mac OS 10.6 alongside Maemo 6 and Symbian (Qt is also being ported to Maemo 5).

An Israeli firm, Emblaze Mobile, is all set to introduce a really gorgeous futuristic smartphone called ‘First Else’. Based on the operating system Access Linux Platform, it is the first actual device of this platform to hit on the market.
